On January 1st, the Governmental Authority for Water and Sewage, hereinafter the Water Authority, was established.
The Authority was established in order to create a body with a comprehensive view of the water needs of the country, and so that authority would be concentrated in the hands of a professional governmental agency that has the tools and the ability to manage and oversee water consumption in Israel in the best and most efficient manner.
The head of the Water Authority is the Director whose authorities are those of the Water Commissioner (prior to the establishment of the Authority) and additional authorities.
The Director of the Water Authority is responsible for managing water usage in accordance with government policy and in accordance with the regulations set by the Authority Board.
